  • "It has been so helpful! My daughter has loved being able to speak to the befriender who was really nice."

    From a parent

  • "It has given my child the chance to speak to someone outside the family the circle about how he feels about his mum and dad’s separation. The befriender was nice and seemed very easy to talk."

    From a parent

  • "Thank you so much for today … I felt like a huge weight had been lifted from my shoulders … my son thought the be-friender was great … He was buzzing after we left … You really don’t know how much it meant to see him like that … I can’t thank you enough."

  • “Huge thanks again for your wonderful group - really is SUCH a blessing, encouragement, uplifting experience every week. Love it”

  • “I have thoroughly enjoyed the course. C was the perfect facilitator, very warm and encouraging and put us all at our ease. I have found it extremely supportive and it has definitely helped build up my confidence and self-esteem. In particular, I have found the conversations about navigating the ongoing communication issues with my children’s dad extremely helpful and I am so glad I found this group. We are all hoping to keep in touch and therefore it has created an ongoing support network for me. It is also amazing that this group has been free. Thank you so much!”

  • “Participating in the heart to heart sessions have been incredibly rewarding and powerful for me. They have helped me to realise I was holding onto resentment of my ex-husband and guilt at myself for being part of a marriage that had ‘failed’. The sessions helped me to consider my situation and to ‘let go’ of unhealthy feelings and to allow myself to ‘move-on’ with my life. I finally feel able to forgive both my ex and myself and to allow myself to be open to a new relationship.”

From an adult attending the peer support group

  • “Heart to heart has helped me to finally move on and accept the things I cannot change. Let go of anger and resentment I have been holding on to. Since taking part in the course I feel so much stronger, happier, content and I’ve made peace with my past. The support and advice from others has been so valuable and being able to share in a safe space. I’m so glad I took this positive step.”

  • “Thanks so much for today's session - I'm feeling much more positive and feel a lot of that is attributed to our lovely wee group.”

From an adult attending the peer support group

  • “Heart to Heart has helped me to gain confidence, self-esteem, hope and happiness; reduced my guilt, confusion and sadness; improved my boundaries with my ex; see I’m not alone in my situation and that things will get easier with time; find new ways of dealing with issues with my ex; my 4 wonderful new friends. Thank you so, so much to everyone in our group and especially C for leading us and C for contributing so much. I’m in a much more hopeful, brighter and more positive place now”

Befrienders

  • “Great opportunity to use my life experiences to benefit someone going through the same thing.”

    From a befriender

  • “I have enjoyed getting to help and support a YP by being able to offer someone to talk to and seeing them grow in confidence.”

    From a befriender

  • “Heart to Heart has given me the opportunity to become a mentor for youth in Scotland. The other volunteers and I attended a few training workshops that provided us the skills and techniques about becoming a mentor. I feel that Heart to Heart not only supports youth that come to the organisation for help, I, as a volunteer feel supported. If at any point I needed to reach out for guidance, I felt comfortable enough to do so. My recent thoughts on a future career is to become a counsellor. Although being young, I am not sure where my life will go career wise. However, once I joined Heart to Heart, I have found the drive to make an impact in someone’s life for the better.”

    From a befriender

  • “Getting to meet YP who have been effected by divorce and loss and being able to help through issues. It has been very flexible, and the tool guide helps plan and work through problems. The whole process has been very straightforward and has meant the time so far with H2H is great.”

    From a befriender

  • “I am enjoying the creative side of explaining and doing activities with the YP in a way that they understand and express their emotions.”
